Vic: Seal Rocks managing director threatens to sue Bracks
MELBOURNE, Aug 13 AAP - The managing director of the troubled Seal Rocks Life Centreon Phillip Island has threatened to sue Victorian Premier Steve Bracks and four otherMPs for defamation.
The operators last week decided to walk away from the tourist venture after a long-runningcontractual dispute, which could cost the state government up to $60 million in compensation.
Ken Armstrong said today he would seek legal advice on suing Mr Bracks, EnvironmentMinister Sheryl Garbutt, Tourism Minister John Pandazopoulos, Deputy Premier John Thwaitesand local independent MP Susan Davies.
Mr Armstrong said personal attacks from the MPs had made him unemployable in Victoria.
He accused Mr Bracks of defaming him on Melbourne radio.
"He said Ken Armstrong will not abide by the arbitrator's decision and you cannot dobusiness with a person like that," Mr Armstrong told AAP.
"That's telling the people of Victoria I'm not going to abide by the law.
"And of course I'm the managing director that's got the flawed plans, the sloppy contracts... how is my business career looking?"
Mr Armstrong is due to hand over the centre to the state government next Monday.
Acting Premier John Thwaites said Mr Armstrong had the right to air his views to the media.
"But certainly there is nothing that has been said by the minister that would givehim the right to sue," he told radio 3AW.
