To get an idea of the kind of bad luck Shenendehowa High boys basketball coach Bill Scanlon has had lately, consider this:
On the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 30, his up-and-down Plainsmen (1-2 Suburban Council, 3-6 overall) were scheduled to play winless Averill Park -- a team Shenendehowa very likely would have beaten.
However, a 14-inch snowstorm hit the Capital Region and the game was canceled. (Not postponed, but canceled.)
Six nights later, Columbia -- a team with 7-foot-1 Craig Forth and one of the best teams in Section II -- was scheduled to pay Shenendehowa a visit.
Again, it snowed. But this time not hard enough to postpone or cancel the game. Columbia's bus arrived about 45 minutes late …
